Alameda Yoga + Pilates Classes
These classes weave together the building blocks of a grounded practice focusing on alignment, flexibility strength and play. We invite our students to move like themselves finding the freedom within the exploration of their own practice. We believe that the challenges that show up on the mat can be overcome and translate into how we approach the trials in our daily lives. Our Vinyasa teachers instruct in a way that invites students of all levels to come and explore their yoga journey while enjoying live music or tailored playlists that compliment the associated teachers style of class. As a beginner, intermediate or advanced student, we look forward to serving you at Symmetry Yoga!
Flow and Restore
This class combines Asana from traditional Hatha Yoga with the supported, restful bliss of Restorative Yoga. The Hatha flow component of the class brings together breath and movement in a graceful, fluid flow that will encourage freedom in your joints, length in your muscles and deep awareness throughout your entire being. The somatic (mind+body) approach of balancing Yin and Yang, Sun and Moon, is the essence of Hatha Flow. This class will leave you enlivened with a deeply empowering sense of well-being, as we will wind down with deeply relaxing Restorative Yoga postures, calming the mind, body and soul.
Gentle yoga is a semi-active practice to rejuvenate and heal the body with a more restorative focus. This class is geared toward students who wish to move and build strength, but at a slower pace to calm the mind while increasing flexibility and body awareness. Yoga props such as blankets, blocks, bolsters, and straps are used for safe practice and to allow the body to fully achieve each position comfortably.
Love yoga, but short on time?! Ain’t that the truth! That’s why we have created a special class for the yogi on the go! A quick and miraculously well rounded yoga practice in just 30 minutes! This All Levels class will dive into a simple, moderately paced, flowing practice to increase blood circulation and boost energy to carry you through the day. The class will also explore basic pranayama (breathing exercises) and easy meditation to clear the mind and reduce stress hormones. You will leave this class energized and focused.
An introduction to Vinyasa Flow. This beginner level class breaks down each posture to explore fundamental alignment and basic principals of flow, building up to a slow paced vinyasa practice. Students will be lead through a dynamic sequence of yoga postures, each position complementing and building upon those that precede and follow. The movements are fluid and dance-like and the aim of this practice is to link breath and movement. You can expect to increase the heart rate and break a sweat while ‘flowing’ in a Vinyasa Yoga Class.
Release and Restore
Balance your active lifestyle and busy mind with this calming yet transformative practice. Enjoy this unique opportunity to explore Asanas (poses) on a deeper, more meditative level by learning to play with energy through conscious breathing and focus. Yin Yoga is a practice of deeply held passive poses that allow your body to open up on very subtle levels. It nourishes the joints and connective tissues, bringing more ease and flexibility, as well as enhances the flow of Prana, or energy, in the tissues and throughout the body. Yin opens your mind, body, and spirit, cultivating perfect harmony on all levels. The result is most often realized in improved flexibility, a calmer mental state, clarity of energy and deeper intention. The Restorative practice enables you to really surrender and rest in supported poses, bringing total relaxation to your whole self. Additionally, you will experience therapeutic, healing touch by an experienced professional, allowing you to let go and surrender into healing bliss.
Candlelight Restorative is an antidote for stress. A supported practice for restoring the body, mind, and spirit. Postures are held for longer periods of time, using props (blankets, blocks, and straps) for coziness, support, health and relaxation.
Hatha Yoga is the foundation of all other forms of holistic yoga. Ultimately Hatha is the expression of Yin and Yang, movement and stillness, putting forth effort and receiving the flow of life through surrender and breath. Hatha Flow combines breath and movement in a graceful flow that will encourage freedom in your joints, length in your muscles and somatic awareness throughout. This class will leave you enlivened and enthused with deep sense of well being. All ages, levels of experience and ability are welcome!
Equal parts movement and mindfulness, this class creatively integrates fluid sun salutations with anatomical precision and longer, strength-building holds. Intelligent sequencing and targeted alignment cues invite specific exploration of various movement principles. Body awareness and proprioception are enhanced both by personal inquiry and by compassionate feedback from verbal instructions and physical adjustments. Expect to slow down, challenge yourself, and grow your practice in a sustainable method that promotes joint stability and longevity. In an effort to minimize external distractions and focus attention inwards, this class is led without music.

Reiki & Restorative
Reiki & Restorative is a time and space totally devoted to the renewal of your nervous system. Through the restorative practice of long-held, non-weight bearing postures, you will be able to feel ease, relaxation, and a sense of inner peace and well-being. Alongside this deeply healing practice, you will experience the gentle warmth and healing touch of Reiki (universal life force energy). Reiki intelligently assists in soothing the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual layers of the body as it gently runs through energetic pathways, or meridians, cleansing and nourishing along its path.
This meditative and nourishing class is an opportunity to let go of striving for results and witness what unfolds when we embody the present moment. In this slow moving class, postures are done primarily on the floor with the support of blocks, blankets, and bolsters, and are held for 3-5 minutes to target connective tissue. This practice is known to increase flexibility, circulation and promote joint health, as well as stimulate energetic pathways in the body. As we slow down the body, breath and mind, we tap into the body’s innate wisdom and healing potential. As we cultivate compassion and acceptance of whatever is arising in each moment on the mat, we gain more tools to take with us out into the world. Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to a busy “yang” lifestyle and an active yoga practice, also a great preparation for meditation.
Yin Yang Yoga
This holistic class balances the enlivening and strengthening aspects of a gentle Hatha Flow class with the more restorative and meditative qualities of Yin Yoga. We’ll start by opening the body slowly with some Yin postures, held between 3-5 minutes to target connective tissues and increase flexibility. From there we’ll make our way into a mindful breath-based hatha flow to build strength and body awareness. This class will close with deep restorative postures utilizing various props to support the body and allow for deep relaxation, sending you into the weekend rested and rejuvenated.
Slow Yoga & Sound Meditation
Settle into meditation with traditional yogic methods and unique sequencing. This class begins with slow, therapeutic yoga postures designed to open the body and still the breath. You’ll then experience a deep calm as you are immersed with the soothing tones of live quartz crystal singing bowls during a sound savasana. Once your body, breath, and mind are relaxed, you will be ready for an ease-filled seated meditation. Take part in a tranquil morning practice and leave feeling recharged and revitalized. Perfect for those seeking a gentler class, deep stretches & a very slow pace. All ages, levels, and abilities welcome.

Gentle enough for injury recovery, yet powerful enough to bring your whole system into alignment, our Pilates teachers take pride in offering classes that build a solid core, muscle tone, and flexibility, leaving you stronger and more centered than ever. The Yoga Sutras, widely regarded as the authoritative text on yoga, is a collection of verses outlining the eight limbs of yoga. As asana (posture or pose) is only one of the eight limbs of yoga, these “threads” of wisdom (as sutra translates from Sanskrit) offer guidelines for living a meaningful and purposeful life on and off the yoga mat. This Vinyasa based class will examine different sutras each week and practitioners of all levels will explore an alignment-based, dynamic flow that cultivates greater stamina, strength and flexibility. Students will be challenged to sweat, laugh and look deep beyond their perceived limitations. Sundays 9:30-10:45am.
