Yoga Nidra with Anne Gregory

Yoga Nidra, or “Yogic Sleep”, is a state between sleeping and waking. You will be guided on a systematic journey to the deep, quiet layers of the self. Practitioners can experience a deep state of relaxation while maintaining “a trace of awareness”. Yoga Nidra calms the mind, restores the nervous system, and increases resilience.

This class will begin with gentle yoga postures to help you transition from the external world toward the more inner landscape. The second half of the class is a guided relaxation/meditation done lying down in a comfortable reclining position.

Aside from being relaxing, restorative and restful, studies have shown that Yoga Nidra can:

  • Ease insomnia
  • Decrease anxiety
  • Alleviate stress
  • Reduce PTSD
  • Decrease chronic pain
  • Heighten awareness and focus
  • Transform negative habits, behaviors and ways of thinking
  • Foster feelings of peace, calm, and clarity

*Wear comfortable yoga clothing

*The majority of class will be spent in a laying down position. Feel free to bring your favorite pillow (we will have blankets and bolsters available at the studio for you)

Friday Night Flow with Nikki Borodi and Firefly

Kick off your weekend with live music that will inspire you to move through an open level yoga class taught by Nikki Borodi. This month we are joined by Firefly!

Firefly is musician who weaves community in many worlds. She has performed everywhere from small intimate house concerts to leading music at spiritual retreats to playing onstage with bands at music festivals. She carries a spark of inspiration and love of the Earth in her original songwriting, devotional chants, and humorous covers. Currently she performs with the transcendental indie folk trio The Seventh String.

Whether you are new to yoga or a long time yogi, this class will invite you to deepen your experience of Vinyasa Flow. Through music and movement, we will find a sense of play in our practice, learning to listen to the body’s intuition, and how to move like your best self.

Chronic pain is not a simple sensation. It is strongly influenced by the ways in which the brain processes the pain signals. In fact, chronic pain can provoke strong emotional reactions, such as fear, anxiety, or even terror, depending on what the individual believes about their pain signals.

If there is any good news about chronic pain, it is that, to a certain extent, the brain can learn how to manage and decrease the sensation of pain using a combination of deep focus, breathing, tension release and imagery techniques.

Join Aviva Levine for a 2-hour workshop integrating visualization, Yoga and TRE to invite rewiring the brain from persistently communicating pain signals that no longer have injury to heal. Yoga for Anxiety with Tiffany Marquez

It is widely known that Yoga can bring about a sense of calm and well-being when practiced regularly, but what about those of us that deal with high levels of stress, daily anxiety, and even panic attacks?! When in the throes of anxiety, it can be a challenge to set aside time and mind space for a full yoga practice, fortunately, incorporating small and simple elements of principles of Yoga can make a huge impact on overall wellness. In moments of high stress and anxiety, we can turn to our very own ever-growing Yoga Tool Box: A menagerie of yogic concepts to pull from and utilize for healing.

In this workshop, we will explore practical tools that we can incorporate into our lives in times of need. We will discuss and practice visualizations and meditation, controlled breathwork, mantra and journaling, and end with mindful movement geared towards releasing anxious emotions.
Please bring a pen and your journal. Pens and paper will be available if needed.

You will learn stretches, ball-rolling techniques and exercises that meet your body’s specific needs. Restorative yoga is a powerful and therapeutic practice that uses props to support the body combined with guided meditation to encourage stillness of the mind.
