“Write Your Yoga” Workshop with Ivy Weiskopf

Saturday May 20th 1:30pm-3:30pm
Ivy Weiskopf, M.A., E-RYT 200, has been practicing yoga for more than 20 years and writing for much longer! Trained in the Amherst Artists and Writers Method, Ivy’s gentle guidance, thought-provoking prompts, and insightful feedback ensure that you will leave feeling inspired and renewed. In Write Your Yoga workshops the time is split between yoga and guided writing sessions for a deeper experience of both practices. Through this unique approach we uncover stories embedded in the body, tap in to our authentic voice, and find connection and support within the group. Whether you are an experienced writer or yogi or not, Write Your Yoga meets you where you are. By creating a safe space in which to experiment, and by linking the body and the mind through movement, we can begin to stretch ourselves in new directions.

Back In Action Workshop with Aviva Levine

Saturday March 25th 1:30pm-3:30pm
Join Forrest Yoga & TRE® Instructor Aviva Levine for this 2-hour workshop to discover safe techniques to help you find more comfort, ease and vitality in your back. Designed for anyone suffering from chronic or sporadic back pain, tension and/or weakness. This workshop consists of a truly all levels Forrest Yoga-inspired sequence to enliven the core and strengthen the back, followed by TRE® (tension releasing exercises).

ABOUT TRE®: Through neurogenic tremors, TRE® encourages the body to release both new and old tension patterns beginning with the psoas muscle, which spans from the 12th thoracic vertebrae and lowest rib to each of the 5 lumbar vertebrae and flows down through the abdominal core and pelvis to attach to the top of the thigh bone. The psoas is often referred to as our fight, flight or freeze muscle and it tightens and contracts in response to everyday stress. A constantly contracting psoas can lead to a host of painful conditions including low back pain, sacroiliac pain, sciatica, disc problems, spondylolysis, scoliosis as well as hip degeneration, knee pain, menstruation pain, infertility, and digestive problems. When the psoas begins to release, it often communicates to the rest of the body that it is safe to let go of habitual tension within the entire body, including the vital back.

Friday Night Flow With Nikki Borodi

Friday March 31st 8:00pm-9:00pm
Kick off your weekend with live music that will inspire you to move through an open level yoga class taught by Nikki Borodi. In the Month of March, we are joined by a reappearance of Reisender!

Reisender began when songwriter Paul Conroy bought a neglected mandolin for 40 euros from a Flea Market in Stuttgart, Germany. The first few songs were written under bridges and on street corners of 20 different cities in Europe. From its origin as “Strassenmusik” (street music), Reisender embodies the spirit of the traveler, who embraces change and transience, especially in the face of adversity and hardship.

Recently, Reisender has performed in San Francisco Venues such as Bottom of the Hill, Neck of the Woods, PianoFight, the Treasure Island Flea Market, and in SoCal at the Redwood Bar & Grill in Los Angeles, & The House of Blues in West Hollywood (since closed).

Music curator Hillydilly.com said about out us in a review: “Reisender has done an excellent job of not doing too much… but still hitting a very pleasant sound.” Whether you are new to yoga or a long time yogi, this class with Nikki and Reisender will invite you to deepen your experience of Vinyasa Flow.  Through music and movement we will find a sense of play in our practice, learning to listen to the body’s intuition, and how to move like your best self. Friday Night Flow With Tina Spogli

Friday February 24th 8:00pm-9:00pm
Tina Spogli loves that yoga meets us where we are, as we are, and then forever changes our lives. She developed a deep love of the practice in 2007 while living in NYC, and the practice quickly became her sanctuary to quiet her body and mind amidst all of the hustle of the big city.

She believes in the transformative process of yoga, with its ability to bring us back into our bodies and breath, and stretch our limitations of what we think is possible, both on and off the mat. Her mantra is to come as you are, and observe what unfolds. Tina’s classes are thoughtful and intentional, sharing inspiration from her personal practice and life.

Tina is a 260 RYT, and a graduate from Laughing Lotus in New York and San Francisco. When she is not on the mat, you can find her in nature, exploring photography, and hanging with her animal friends! She is very grateful to be able to share her heart and practice with you.

Join Tina this month for Friday Night Flow with accompanying musician Egeman (Ege). Ege carries an incredible passion for music of all varieties. Utilizing techniques from a myriad of musical genres and styles, he creates sophisticated and interesting fusions. Ege is a musical renaissance man, and a stringed-instrument maestro, equally comfortable playing folk and classical tunes on his sitar, or playing blues on his electric guitar and harmonica.
