New at Symmetry – Prenatal and Kundalini Yoga

We are excited to introduce one of Alameda’s finest teachers, Rebecca Trissell, to our community! Rebecca will be teaching two new classes at Symmetry:

Prenatal Yoga – Sundays, 6:45-7:45PM 

Prenatal yoga offers a multifaceted approach to childbirth preparation that encourages stretching, mental centering and focused breathing. Prenatal yoga can help Improve sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase the strength, flexibility and endurance of muscles needed for childbirth and motherhood.

In each class mothers are encouraged to gently move different areas of the body while standing, sitting or lying on the ground. Each position is aimed at developing  strength, flexibility and balance. Props – such as blankets, cushions, blocks and belts – may be used to provide support and comfort. In each class you’ll be encouraged to listen to your own breathing, pay close attention to sensations, thoughts and emotions, or repeat a mantra or word to bring about a state of self-awareness and inner calm.

 Kundalini Yoga – Every last Sunday of the month, 8PM-9PM 

Kundalini Yoga classes are a  blend of yoga postures,  movement, breathing techniques, mantra, music and meditation which teach you the art of relaxation, self-healing & elevation. Balancing the body and mind enables you to experience clarity, calm and ease.

About Rebecca Trissell

Experienced Yoga Teacher, ERT-200 and Registered Pre Natal Yoga Teacher, Rebecca Trissell, began practicing yoga in 1998. In 2007 she completed Yoga Tree’s , 200 hour teacher training in San Francisco and has been teaching yoga ever since. In 2013 she completed an 85 hours  prenatal yoga training at the Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco, and an additional 85 hours in Kundalini Pre/Post Natal Yoga (Khlasa Way) with Gurmkh Karu, In 2017 she completed a 300 hour level 1 Kundalini Training with Sat Santokh, and Prabha Nam Kaur. Rebecca was voted Alamedas Best Yoga Teacher, by Alameda Magazine, in 2015, 2016 and 2017. She offers a sweet vibration in each of her classes, though chanting, meditation and exploration.
