We are excited to introduce a truly astounding teacher, Odisa Walker to our community! Odisa will be teaching a new class at Symmetry!
Warm Flow – Tuesdays, 12:00-1:00PM
In a gently heated room, students will find a steady Vinyasa based practice that focuses on linking breath and movement through a dynamic sequence of postures to build stability and strength. In combination with flow, postures will be held for several breaths to ease tension and create ease. This class will explore breath work, core strengthening exercises, strong standing sequences, and playful balancing postures. Designed to be accessible yet challenging for beginners, this level 1-2 class will have something for everyone including experienced students.
About Odisa Walker
Odisa has been teaching yoga since 2002 and has been deeply influenced by her first teacher, her father, since childhood. She completed her 200 hour training in Washington DC at Down Dog Yoga, a Baptiste Power Vinyasa affiliate studio. She co-owned BelovedYoga, a studio in Reston, Virginia for over seven years where she taught, led teacher trainings and facilitated several retreats before moving to the Bay Area in 2013. Since moving here she has slowed way down and is enjoying teaching Yoga more than ever. In 2017 Odisa completed her 300 hour training with Jason Crandell. Her teachings are influenced by many teachers including Shiva Rea, Baron Baptiste, Beryl Bender Birch, Max Strom and most recently Jason Crandell. She is also continuously learning from her own work on the mat as well as the classes she takes with fellow teachers. A class with Odisa will be a breath centered movement practice. She believes strongly in the power of the breath to transform the practice into a moving meditation. The movement practice accompanied by an upbeat playlist builds a strong rhythmic flow challenging students to find their flexibility, their strength, their center and hopefully a dose of joy!
Odisa lives in Berkeley with her husband, four children, three dogs and her dad. When not teaching you might find Odisa in Oakland or Berkeley walking her three sweet(not so sweet)dogs. She is passionate about fostering dogs until they find their furever homes giving them lots of love, reassurance and stability. You might also find her biking around town and of course rolling out her mat to take class with the many amazing teachers in the East Bay.
