Symmetry Student, Melisa Moreno, Celebrates 100th Class!
Our dear Symmetry Yoga student, Melisa Moreno celebrated her 100th yoga class this week in Valerie Tao’s Yin Yang Class! Melisa was thrilled to reach this special milestone and kindly shared a bit of her journey with us:
Q) What led you to your yoga practice?
A) I started studying Ayurveda, and in one of the first lessons, I learned that certain practices of yoga will help manage anxiety and stress. I was feeling very anxious for almost a year, so I decided to give it a try in October. I am still here 100 classes later.
Q) What keeps you motivated to keep coming back?
A) After each class, I feel in the right balance of energized and relaxed. The studio is beautiful, clean, and the instructors are knowledgeable, friendly, and very welcoming.
Q) What classes do you take regularly and why?
A) My go-to classes are Restorative yoga, on Tuesdays and Sundays, yoga Yin-Yang on Friday afternoons and lately, I added Hatha yoga. These classes, especially Yin Yang, relax me without overworking my body. I feel lighter after each class.
Q) Have you noticed any changes in your mind/body/spirit during your journey towards 100 classes?
A) After I started doing yoga, I also changed the rest of my lifestyle, including my diet and sleep patterns. Yoga and meditation are now what I use to relax and recharge, and my body responds well to the classes especially when I take them regularly. I have also noticed that I have more confidence in what my body can do.
Q) What do you like about Symmetry?
A) I like Symmetry because they have restorative yoga and yin-yang, it would be nice to have Yin-Yang with Valerie available more than once per week. I love the altar and the yoga studio is beautiful and clean. The instructors are knowledgeable, friendly, and very welcoming. Symmetry also has excellent workshops and events. The last Friday of the month I try to make an exception and take a vinyasa flow class because it is a unique experience doing yoga with live music.
Q) What advice would you give a new yogi or a new student at Symmetry?
A) Try a bunch of different classes and pick one(s) that make you feel good when the class is done. All the teachers at Symmetry are professional and will make you feel welcome.
